Greenfield to Host 1st Annual ‘Front Street Festival’ Oct. 22 – 26

The City of Greenfield will host their first annual Front Street Festival slated for October 22 – 26. For 35 years, Greenfield’s Fire Chief Bob Dudley coordinated their annual Fire Prevention Festival, but this year the city decided to switch gears.

The festival will host numerous activities and events which can be viewed here in our newspaper on our community calendar page and also on the City of Greenfield’s Facebook page. The city has a number of sponsors dedicated to helping make the Front Street Festival possible.

“We appreciate our sponsors so much. If it wasn’t for them coming together in our small town, none of this would be possible,” City Recorder Jerica Spikes stated.

The event will also host a parade and the city invites any participation in the parade. Please call city hall for more information on participating in their parade.

The festival’s star citizens include Nona Caudle and the Greenfield Lady Jackets along with their head coach Tori Liggett.

Caudle was born in Bradford in 1926, growing up in Bradford and other places along the way with her family that traveled with the railroad. Caudle graduated from Bradford High in 1944 and worked at Milan Arsenal and Chicago Sears before moving back to Greenfield and marrying in 1945. Caudle moved to California and lived there for 16 years. She has 3 children: Wanda, Gary and Debbie and 9 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. After returning to Greenfield, Caudle worked at Western Auto in Greenfield for 10 years. She also worked at the Style Shop on Front Street for 38 years and finished her career at Greenfield McDonald’s at the age of 93. Caudle attends Greenfield United Methodist Church and is involved with the Greenfield Senior Center. She enjoys working in her yard, traveling and playing bridge. The city of Greenfield is proud to select Caudle as a start citizen for their festival.

The Greenfield Lady Jackets and head coach Tori Liggett were selected as Star Citizens for their 2023-24 basketball season.
