E.T Reavis & Son Celebrates 100 years

E.T Reavis is one of the longest running stores in Weakley County, with them hitting 100 years in business this year. The Weakley County Chamber of Commerce as well as the community of Dresden was in attendance as a plaque was given to the store owners to celebrate this milestone.

The family-operated clothing business started in the 1890s, down the road from its current location, by E.T Reavis. It was first called Reavis and Mayo before officially settling on E.T. Reavis and Son around 1920. Each generation since E.T Reavis has been a part of the business. 

Currently, the business is run by Tom Reavis, Martha Reavis Killebrew, and Carol Reavis Moore, who are the great-grandchildren of E.T Reavis, and they have recently obtained the original building where E.T Reavis had begun.

Tom says that the store mostly does online sales now, but the store is still open six days a week. 

“Your “logging on” our website is the same as walking through our doors to us. You are the reason we’re here and have been for a over a century,” Tom stated.

“I started as a sixth grader, where I practiced counting change on the kitchen table,” Martha said as she reminisced on the past. 

Carol says that her job is to pack the packages to be shipped. 

Since the store does a lot of online sales, they often get calls, and many customers call from all around the country and have gotten to know the family and check in on them, which Carol says is amazing.
