Westview Marching Band Finishes Competition Season on High Notes

LAST DAY OF COMPETITION SEASON - The seniors on this year’s Westview Marching Band accepted the band’s group of awards during a rainy competition on Saturday in Pinckneyville, Ill. This was the marching band’s last day of its competition season. The group of musicians picked up a 3rd-place overall award in its class, while the Color Guard and Field Commander earned the Outstanding Auxiliary and Drum Major awards in their class. DRUM ROLL FOR THE DRUMLINE - The Westview Marching Band’s Drumline received a 1st-place award during the band’s final competition of the marching season held in Pinckneyville, Ill. Saturday evening. BAND REPRESENTS IN ARKANSAS - The Westview Marching Band traveled to Paragould, Ark., on Saturday, Oct. 21, where the group earned an “Excellent Band” rating that day. Westview also brought home a 1st-place award for Color Guard, 3rd-place award for Percussion and 3rd-place Band in their class award. WHS MARCHING BAND’S FINAL PERFORMANCE - Westview Marching Band finished its competition season with a final parade performance in Pinckneyville, Ill., Saturday evening. Bands are invited to compete in a parade performance where they are allowed to dress in Halloween costumes and judged on marching skills, drumline, drum major and overall. Due to rain, the band’s final competition was moved indoors. Westview High School earned 2nd-place honors in its class and 1st place in percussion. Overall for Saturday’s events in Illinois, Westview brought home a 2nd-place award.
