The revolution takes place this weekend, as the Weakley Playhouse theatre troupe brings the Lauren Gunderson play “The Revolutionists” to the stage.

The play involves four very real women who lived boldly in France during the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror. According to the playwright, the grand and dream-tweaked comedy is about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world.

Showtimes for “The Revolutionists” are Dec. 8 at 8 p.m.; Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. in the theater at Westview High School. General admission tickets are $5 and can be purchased online in advance at weakleyplays.ludus.com. The show is rated PG-13 for adult themes, mild profanity, and implied violence.

The Weakley Playhouse is open to all middle and high school students in the school district and is led by teacher and Director Martin Kane.
