Fast Start Propels Dresden to Victory

Lions finish regular season with no losses, move to playoffs

Dresden accrued 402 total offensive yards as it capped an unbeaten season with a 63-7 victory over Greenfield last week.

The Lions got off to a fast start.

"I thought it was one of our more complete games," said Dresden coach Keith Hodge. "We came out ready to play and played hard. I thought we executed well."

“Our team has accomplished great things so far this season. (It is) Only the third team to finish a perfect 10-0 in the regular season. Previously the 1970 and 2016 teams also were able get through the regular season unblemished, and the 2016 won the state championship,” Dresden High School Principal Scott Killebrew noted.

Dresden essentially scored in all phases of the game. Cooper Allman caused a fumble and Jacob Moore recovered it for a touchdown. Micah Wingate picked off a pass.

Offensively, Dresden quarterback Cameron Schlicht was 7-7 for 198 yards and a TD. He also had three rushes for 76 yards and a score.

Tristan Jett had three touchdowns and carried six times for 80 yards. He also had two catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. Luke DiPietro carried one time for 51 yards and a TD.

Senior offensive lineman Chris Mann got into the act as a running back. He rang the bell for a 1-yard touchdown.

The Lions, 10-0, would have hosted Booker T. Washington, but because of a fight during the BTW-KIPP game, BTW sustained a post-season ban. As a result, Middleton will journey north to Rotary Field for the first round of the Class A playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Tigers, 1-8, defeated Manassas 26-12 last Friday.

The Yellow Jackets end their season at 3-7.
