There will be some new faces in official roles in Weakley County after the November 5 election and some faces will be moving out of those roles.
In Dresden they will welcome Jennifer Reddick Schlicht as a new alderwoman who won with 889 votes filling Dale Hutcherson’s vacant seat. Alderman Willie Parker will not be continuing his role as an alderman, receiving 609 votes. Lyndal Dilday will be returning as a Dresden alderman with 762 votes and Ralph Cobb will remain with 807 votes as will Kenneth Moore with 631 votes.
The town of Gleason will have the same mayor, Charles Anderson who won another term with 516 votes and Gleason will have some new faces joining as aldermen. Mike Bennet with 480 votes, Mike Stafford with 475 votes, L. Shawn Francisco with 445 votes and James Mayor Hines will be appointed as alderman.
In the city of Greenfield, Cindy McAdams wins the mayoral race unopposed with 703 votes and Donald Ray High will return as alderman with 527 votes along with former city recorder Randy Potts with 479 votes, Brad Borneman with 442 votes and Ray Ann Ewing with 416 votes. Greenfield voters also voted to approve the legal sale of alcoholic beverages on the premises with a win of 487 to 343.
In Martin, Celeste Taylor won Ward 1, previously occupied by Danny Nanney, with 774 votes beating John “Tony” Prince who accumulated 662 votes. Marvin Flatt will be returning for Ward 2 with 733 votes and Jacob Crowe took Randy Edwards seat with 522 votes to his 321.
“I’m beyond excited for the opportunity to serve our home in this capacity. I’m thankful to God for allowing me to serve. We have a lot of work to do but with Him, all things are possible,” Crowe stated via a Facebook post shortly after learning of his win over Edwards.
The town of Sharon will remain the same with Donn Stricklin as mayor and Stewart Broussard and Wanda Hamlin returning as aldermen.
13,558 Weakley Countians went out to vote on this years election day almost setting a new record for voting in Weakley County, however numbers were still a bit shy by a few hundred.
