Marley Crews has been selected as the Youth Honoree from Weakley County for the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Award for 2024
Marley is 15 years old and a sophomore at Gleason High School in Gleason, Tn. She has always been passionate about balancing her academic, athletic and community commitments and she hopes to be able to cover all of the many things that she loves to do in her life.
Marley always tries her hardest to be the best student possible and make sure to be hard on herself to keep her straight A’s and show up and try her hardest in everything that she does. She has gotten perfect attendance in her 8th grade year and her Freshman year and her goal is make it her Sophomore year. Her favorite subjects are math, such as algebra and geometry and English. After high school she plans on becoming a math teacher, specifically for junior high and high school.
Marley loves her athletic life which includes softball, cheer, and dance.
Away from school life she loves going out and trying to make someone’s day. When school is over for the day you will find Marley at church or at the Sharon Senior Citizens Center where she has volunteered for the past three summers. The senior citizens love seeing Marley’s contagious smile when she walks in the door. Marley says she has learned a lot about the history of the county from the seniors and the people at the center have always treated her like family. Marley loves church and is a member of the Gleason First Baptist Church where she is very passionate about her faith and believes going to church helps her a lot with building her faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.
A luncheon will be at the Franklin Marriott in Franklin, TN on Sunday, February 16th to celebrate all the Honorees for the Governor’s Volunteer Stars Award across the State.
“Marley is an outstanding young lady that will go far in life. Congratulations Marley for all your accomplishments,” the Dresden Senior Center stated.
