While the final score of Greenfield’s 48-6 region loss to Peabody Friday night in Trenton was certainly one-sided, Greenfield head coach Russ Brown praised his Yellow Jackets for showing what he felt was clear improvement in a very challenging contest.

“We moved the ball very well,” said Brown. “Our offensive line got a lot better. We grew up as a program.”

Junior running back Tyler Isbell scored Greenfield’s lone touchdown – a 25-yarder on a pass from senior quarterback Matt Scates – during the first quarter.

Peabody was up 28-6 at the end of the first, 42-6 at the half, and then put up the final six points in the third quarter. The fourth quarter proved scoreless for both teams.

Still winless for the season, the Jackets will be traveling across the county this upcoming Friday night to face the Gleason Bulldogs for Gleason’s homecoming.

“Gleason is not a region game for us, however, I like the matchup,” said Brown. “Coach Lampkins is a very good coach and will have them ready to play. I look forward to it.”
