Home-Heavy 2024 Skyhawk Volleyball Schedule Unveiled

A total of 13 home matches – tied for the most in the University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball program’s NCAA Division I history – highlight the 2024 Skyhawk schedule, which was announced today by head coach Jaclynn Wilson.           

The 13 regular season home matches will equal the 2022, 2018, 2014, 2011 and 1997 UT Martin squads for most in a single season since the program transitioned into the Division I ranks in 1992. The Skyhawk Classic tournament returns this fall for the first time since 2022 and seventh time since 2011.           

Overall, UT Martin will square off against four postseason participants from 2023 as part of a dozen matchups against teams with a winning record last fall. Also included in the 2024 docket are a pair of first-time opponents (North Alabama, Missouri) at the Division I level and teams from seven different conferences.           

Year 10 of the Wilson Era officially begins on Aug. 30 when the Skyhawks take on defending Southern Conference regular season champion The Citadel and Grambling State in Tuscaloosa, Ala. UT Martin wraps up the Crimson Tide Invitational the following day against tournament host Alabama.        

The two-day, four-team Skyhawk Classic is next on the schedule as UT Martin hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff and North Alabama on Sept. 6 before taking on Missouri State on Sept. 7.           

A four-match homestand wraps up with a Sept. 10 matchup against Southern Illinois, the first of three consecutive opponents who appeared in the postseason a year ago.           

The nonconference slate wraps up on Sept. 13-14 when the Skyhawks travel to the Mizzou Invitational to face Missouri (who won a NCAA Tournament match in 2023) and Kansas City (defending Summit League regular season champions).    

Following a near two-week break, UT Martin opens Ohio Valley Conference play on Sept. 27-28 with two matches at Little Rock. The Skyhawks then travel to Southern Indiana on Oct. 1 before another 10 days off.         

A season-long five-match homestand is set for mid-October as UT Martin hosts Morehead State (Oct. 11-12), Lindenwood (Oct. 18-19) and Southern Indiana (Oct. 22).          

The Skyhawks make their first-ever visit to Western Illinois on Oct. 25-26 before heading to Music City for a two-match set against Tennessee State on Nov. 1-2.           

Four of the final six regular-season matches will be played in front of the home crowd as UT Martin collides against Southeast Missouri on Nov. 8-9. After a quick two-match series at SIUE on Nov. 14-15, the Skyhawks conclude the regular season on Nov. 19-20 against Tennessee Tech.

The OVC Championship tournament is set for Nov. 24-26 and will be hosted by the regular season champion.
