DHS Girls Track and Field Take Away Third, Boys Seventh at Union City Rotary Relays

With a total of 21 competing schools invited to the Union City Rotary Relays, Dresden High girls brought home 3rd place overall. Briley Smith walked away with gold after finishing first in the 300-meter hurdles. Lily Pash (7th) and Tess Ogg (8th) also competed in the 300-hurdles. Smith also ran with the 4x400 team which earned 5th. Also running the 4x4 were Caroline Stevenson, Jennah Swatzell, Gracie Kibbler. Bringing home silver medals for Dresden in the 4x800 relay team were Ellie Pool, L. Pash, Bailey Collie, and Brenley Little. Tess Ogg competed in the 100 hurdles (9th) and long jump (13th). Jennah Swatzell (21st) and Alicia Ramos (27) competed in the 200-meter open. Bailey Collie also came strong in the 800-meter race, earning 2nd with a time of 2:36.12. Brentley Little followed just behind, earning 3rd with a time of 2:36.44. In the mile race, Caroline Stevenson (5th) and Lily Pash (6th) finished in the top ten. Allyssa Lemoine took on field events earning 10th in discus and 19th in shotput. The girls 4x200 team earned Dresden a sixth-place finish (Rylee Cousins, Ogg, Ramos, and Swatzell).

Freshman, Carson Brownlow-Rendon had an amazing race and brought home the bronze in the 1600-meter finishing just behind Graves of South Gibson and Mckinnis of Union City. Brice Rother also finished in the top 10 in the1600 meter race, followed by Jesse Pash (15th). All Dresden boys finished in the top 5 in the 3200-meter race; Vaughn Bounds was second with a time of 10:54, Brownlow-Rendon was third with a time of 11:07, and Carter Oliver earned 4th with a time of 12:11. Finishers in the 200 meter race were Westley Turner coming in 20th, Cavin Shofleth (32nd), Ryan Cousins (34th) and Hayden Curry (35th). Turner finished 15th in the 100-meter.  In the 400-meter, Vaughn Bounds took home fourth out of 35 other competitors. Asher Matheny finished behind closely, earning sixth place and Cavin Shofleth came in twentieth. The 800 meter was run by Rother with a time of 2:24 (6th), Christian Pash with a time of 2:26 (7th) and Jesse Pash (14th). The boys 4x400 meter relay was run by Matheny, Brownlow-Rendon, Turner, and Bounds. They earned 6th place overall with a time of 4:01. Another top finishing relay team was the 4x800 earning the bronze with a time of 10:04 (Brownlow-Rendon, C. Pash, J. Pash, and Rother)

The Lions Track and Field team is preparing for next week’s Regionals meet at Union City on Thursday, 1MAY2025 and 13MAY2025 in Paducha, KY for the McCracken Co Invitational. Field events begin at 4:00pm. Come out and support your Lion runners!
