As summer approaches, churches throughout Weakley County are gearing up for a beloved tradition—Vacation Bible School (VBS). These annual programs offer a blend of spiritual education, fun, and fellowship, welcoming children from all walks of life into a week of themed Bible lessons, games, crafts, music, and more.
This year’s VBS events feature diverse themes and formats, ensuring there’s something for every family.
Dresden First Baptist Church: “Magnified!”
Dresden First Baptist Church will host its VBS from June 8–12, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 490 Morrow Street. Children from nursery through sixth grade are invited to attend. This year’s theme, “Magnified!,” encourages participants to explore the wonders of God’s creation and focus on His greatness in everyday life. A special Family Night will take place on Thursday, June 12, bringing the week’s experiences to a celebratory close.
Connect Church in Martin: “Live It Out”
Connect Church will hold its VBS from June 9–11, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This program, titled “Live It Out,” centers on helping children learn to express their faith through daily actions. The sessions will include Bible stories, crafts, games, and upbeat music. Children from Pre-K through fifth grade are welcome.
Gleason First Baptist Church
Gleason First Baptist Church is planning a full week of VBS from June 16–20. While exact times are yet to be confirmed, the church has announced that the week will conclude with a Family Night celebration on Friday, June 20. The event will feature guest entertainer Barry Mitchell, offering an engaging end to a spiritually enriching week.
Long Heights Baptist Church in McKenzie: “Magnified!”
Also running from June 16–20 is the VBS at Long Heights Baptist Church in McKenzie. Sessions will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This church is also using the “Magnified!” theme, aiming to help children recognize God in the smallest of moments and places.
Greenfield First Baptist Church
Greenfield’s First Baptist Church will host its VBS from June 22–25, each evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The program will kick off with a community cookout and family activities on Sunday, June 22. Children can expect to participate in a variety of engaging activities, from inflatables and games to meaningful Bible lessons.
Oak Grove Baptist Church: One-Day VBS Event
For families looking for a shorter commitment, Oak Grove Baptist Church will offer a one-day VBS on Saturday, June 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Also adopting the “Magnified!” theme, the event focuses on helping children see God’s presence in everyday experiences. This format is ideal for families with limited availability during the week.
