The Westview High School Chargers made it seven in row Friday night as they tripled the Ripley Tigers 21-7 in a non-region contest at Ripley.

The Chargers got the ball rolling in the first quarter when senior quarterback Craig Ross connected with senior Quincy Hamilton for a 46-yard scoring pass play.

Westview added the other two TDs in the second stanza – one on a two-yard carry by senior Drew Shanklin and the other on a 31-yard pass play from Ross to Hamilton.

With the three extra-point kicks by junior Brian Navarrete, the Chargers were ahead 21-0 at the half.

The Tigers scored one touchdown in the third quarter, and then both teams went scoreless in the fourth.

“We had some inconsistent play coming off the bye week,” said Westview head coach Jarod Neal. “Ripley did a great job on defense to take away some things we like to do. Our defense played very well and gave us the opportunity to win.”

Now 7-2 overall and 4-0 in region competition, the Chargers will conclude the regular season this Friday night as they travel to winless Houston County in a final regional test before the playoffs.

“Houston County is a region matchup that we need to win to finish undefeated in the region, which is a goal of ours this season,” said Neal.
