All Dresden Track and Field Participants Reach the Winners Podium

Dresden High School track and field sent six athletes to compete in the TSSAA Class-A state meet, Thursday the 20th. All athletes earned their way to the awards podium and medaled in their events. Many events were delayed or postponed throughout the day due to sever weather conditions in the area, but the Lion runners came away victors. Vaugh Bounds competed in the boys 1600-meter open and achieved third place, with a P.R of 4:34.18, finishing 2.5 seconds behind Westview’s Jack Mantooth and one second behind Union City’s Woodrow McKinnis. Bounds also competed in the  800-meter open the following day and came in fourth in the state with a time of 2.04.49. The girls 4x800-meter relay team, consisting of front runner Ellie Poole, Lily Pash, Greenfield’s Brenley Little, and anchor leg, Bailey Collie, earned medals, coming in 3rd place for the Lady Lion runners with a time of 10:24.48, 16 seconds ahead of their Union City rivals. Collie also brought home bronze in the girls 800-meter open with a time of 2:27.87. Briley Smith made her way to the winner’s podium for the 300-meter hurdles, coming in 8th place with a time of 51:45.
